This summer was mild and wet, and the vegetation at the Arboretum this year was fantastic! The kids always enjoy going...here are some pics.
Can you spot the American goldfinch (aka wild canary) in the sunflowers above? We saw a ton of these birds - they really like the sunflowers.
Ryan spotted this Monarch butterfly.
On another note, the kid's latest obsession has been the stinging insects - think bees, wasps, etc. Ryan is especially interesting in yellow jackets. They are so good though - Ryan will let them land on him and he just stands still until they fly off! I remember freaking out about that when I was a kid.
