OK, so the verdict is officially in - Marin had her follow-up appointment with the audiologist today. She gets her hearing aids in two weeks! I picked pink and purple swirl for the mold and a pearly pink for the hearing aid - don't worry, there will be tons of pictures. Basically, she has normal hearing in the low frequencies but almost moderate (still in the mild range though) hearing loss in some of the higher frequencies. A hearing aid should easily fix these deficits, no sign language etc., needed. She will begin speech therapy once a week as soon as she gets the hearing aids. She will wear them all the time she is awake. She will probably also need them all through her schooling years, particularly whenever she is in a classroom setting - but I am guessing she will opt for less conspicuous ones than what she will be getting soon!

Oh my goodness, that's so great you were able to catch it so early. She will look darling, after awhile it starts looking weird when they are not wearing them. I think Luke looks so much cuter with them, now that we are so used to them. Where is she getting therapy at is it Lexington Hearing and Speech?

I wasn't sure if you were aware but under the IDEA law Marin should qualify for free public preschool (for children with disabilities). That may be what you already have set up but if you don't just contact whoever is over Special Education at your local school district.
Actually IDEA will help children from age 1 to even before preschool. They have to be tested but I think they might be able to give her a little head start so she wouldn't need as much during regular school. Good Luck. If you have any question feel free to give us a call.
